Wachman's Marquesa sheds maiden tag
David Wachman's Marquesa under Johnny Murtagh, justified strong market support (well backed 8/13 favourite) when winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Dundalk.
Runner-up on her two previous outings (including in a Group 3 at Naas in June), the daughter of Kingmambo eventually battled to defeat Excellent Girl by three parts of a length.
Wachman was absent, attending the Deauville Sales, but reported by phone "Marquesa has a good pedigree and its good to get this maiden win out of the way. She should improve a lot for the run and will revert to Stakes company next."
