Vindecy storms to Weatherbys success
Hugo de Vindecy powered away from his rivals in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the Weatherbys Racecards Hurdle at Down Royal.
Barry Geraghty tracked the leaders throughout before moving into contention before the second last.
He hit the front before the last and kept on strongly for a three-length victory over Rubi Light
"I came here because there was no two-and-a-half mile winners races about except for Graded contests," said trainer Jessica Harrington.
"There is a Grade 2 race over two-and-a-half mile at Thurles for him. Hopefully he might be good enough as he has improved a bit.
"Last time he didn't like it at Limerick. He's a good jumper but made a very bad mistake at one of the easyfix hurdles."
