Vets work their magic with Rare Commodity
Jockey Andrew McNamara and trainer Edward O’Grady combined to record a double at Clonmel today, completing the double with the much-operated-on Rare Commodity in the concluding Cashel Maiden Hurdle.
McNamara, who moved onto the 13 winner mark for the season following the double, raced the son of Definite Article prominently before moving him through to lead after two out, eventually staying on well for a seven lengths win.
Afterwards O’Grady revealed “plenty of credit goes to the vets for this win - Rare Commodity has had four wind operations and they said that his latest operation would be his final one.”
He added “faster ground does help him as it doesn’t exacerbate his problem and he’ll be kept going for the summer.”
