Windbeneathmywings’ former handler Pat Flynn was on the mark in a bitter-sweet day for the trainer at Dundalk this evening, as his Gallo Dell Cielo (4/1) landed the HRI Best Turned-Out Flat League Handicap (Div I).
Three hours after Flynn’s talented former inmate Windbeneathmywings scored a ‘wowser’ 14-lengths Ascot bumper success for new connections, Gallo Dell Cielo scored his Dundalk success by a neck, under Robyn Donaghue-Leahy.
Trainer Flynn, who had compared Windbeneathmywings to top racer French Ballerina prior to his recent sale, wasn’t at Dundalk and Donaghue-Leahy reported “Gallo Dell Cielo probably doesn't want an inch further than 1m4f but he stayed it out fine and did enough tonight.
“It was his first time up the trip and you never know, but he did it very well. He was there to be shot at and was by himself a long way out, but he's good and genuine."
