Darren Collins registered his second success today as the Galway-based trainer landed Killarney's Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (division II) with gambled Ask Cillian under his neighbouring jockey Jack Gilligan.
Backed on-course from 8/1 to 4/1 favourite, the seven-year-old maiden mare improved from mid-field to lead at the third-last, went clear from the next and won cosily by six lengths from Cafe Del Mar
Collins, whose initial winner was Sayitfirst at Fairyhouse last October, commented “I was hoping she would be in the top four and maybe placed, but didn't think she'd run that well. She is a nice filly and deserved her win.
“I have my license over a year, that's my second winner and it is a family business, with people who help out. Jack is local to me in Monivea so comes in to school for me and we've ten horses in at the moment.”
