Trail lands touch
Intyre Trail landed a morning gamble when running out a convincing winner of the first division of the mile handicap at Dundalk.
The 10/1 winner was backed from 25/1 to 8/1 prior to racing and was given an enthusiastic reception on his return.
Michael Hussey hit the front over a furlong out on the Jarlath Fahey-trained gelding and he stayed on well in the closing stages for a length-and-three-parts victory over Matjar
"He worked very well up the Polytrack on the Curragh last weekend and we were hoping for an improved effort on his handicap debut," said Fahey.
"He seems to like that surface. I told the owners to have a few pounds on each-way after he worked.
"He was a bit rusty early on but travelled well into the race and done it well in the end.
"He was a slow horse to come to hand and had a few niggling problems. He started to come right this year and hopefully he can go on from this.
"He'll probably come back here next week for a similar race."
