Top Spin takes opener at Roscommon
The opening race this evening, the Roscommon (C&G) Maiden was won by the consistent Top Spin from the John Murphy stable.
Berry who dictated the pace for most kicked clear entering the straight.
The pair kept on well inside the final furlong to hold off the fast finishing Speechmaker by a neck.
Winning jockey Berry said afterwards: “That was a good performance, he was a bit awkward leaving the stalls.”
“There wasn’t much of a pace so I decided we’d dictate it and he picked up well.”
“That was my first time to ride him and I really liked him, I think he’s a progressive sort.”
