Toner D’Oudairies was driven to challenge at the second last and was then kept up to his work by Davy Russell to account for Ancient Sands and Sizing Symphony in Listowel.
The seven-year-old gave five pounds in weight to both of those rivals in this two and a half mile novice chase and was bouncing back from being pulled up in Killarney.
“He was very disappointing last time. They went very quick and he half sulked,” trainer Gordon Elliott explained.
“He’s not a novice for much longer. He can’t run in novice chases after October. He’s a bit of a monkey and is probably suited by smaller fields.”
His SP was 7/1. He was nibbled at from 9s in the betting ring, but the main betting action centred on Back In A Tic – 7/1 to 5/1 this morning and 7/2 to 11/4 at the track, however he didn’t trouble the judge today in fourth.
