Tide springs surprise

Handicap debutante Tide Runner (22/1) came from last to first to win the www.valuecentre.ie Handicap (div 2) at Dundalk tonight, scoring for trainer John Murphy and jockey Shane Foley.
Foley was under pressure on the son of Selkirk, rated just 47, from early in the straight but the pair finished well to eventually head runner-up Footprint near the line.
Murphy was not present but Foley did mention “Tide Runner was struggling a bit, as they went a good gallop but when he found his stride he kept on well.”
The win moves Foley level with Wayne Lordan at the head of the Racing Post Winter Jockeys' Series on ten winners, one ahead of Johnny Murtagh and the rider added “the Series adds a bit of extra interest and a bit of banter between the lads!”
