That time of year has arrived. Your Cheltenham portfolio is bursting at the seams, you should have gone to bed five hours ago but you are still up at 3am watching various online Cheltenham previews and trying to decipher every comment from the insiders, all while undertaking your own in-depth form study.
A multitude of fancies for Cheltenham is when free bet offers come in rather handy and Unibet’s welcome offer gives you the opportunity to get €40 in free bets.
We have selected three tips at each-way prices with Unibet:
Quilixios 10-1 with Unibet - Henry de Bromhead has won the Arkle twice and recently compared this year’s representative Quilixios, to his past Cheltenham Festival winners Sizing Europe and Special Tiara. A winner at Naas last time when dropped back in trip, and a previous Triumph Hurdle winner, he is a good each-way bet in an open race at 10-1.
Henry de Bromhead said after his win at Naas in January:
“He was really good, jumped brilliant, travelled well and we couldn’t have really asked for any more. He jumped a bit right in Limerick and we were concerned about that but no sign of it here. He has loads of gears and is a Triumph Hurdle winner. He’s a class horse. We got the trip wrong the last day. He wouldn’t blow you away with speed at home but those good two milers have such a high cruising speed. Sizing Europe was the same and so was Special Tiara. He’s in the Irish Arkle but we’ll speak with everyone at Cheveley and see where we go. I’d say he’ll have to go to the Arkle (at Cheltenham) now.”
Jalon D’oudairies 7-1 with Unibet - a high-class Bumper horse who is currently 7-1 with Unibet for this year’s Champion Bumper. Unbeaten in two starts, his Leopardstown victory was most impressive at Christmas when beating Redemption Day readily. Elliott said after the race:
“He's our Cheltenham bumper horse. We think he is nice. I thought he showed some attitude to have to make the running, we didn't really want to. What I loved from two furlongs to the pole was hands and heels and he just stretched the whole way. He picked up well. I thought it was a good performance. He'll go straight there (Cheltenham), Jack Kennedy booked and all ready to go!”
Readin Tommy Wrong 13-2 with Unibet - Willie Mullins oversees a host of outstanding novice hurdlers and son Patrick recently expressed his admiration for this promising sort, exclaiming he could be as good as any of the other novice hurdlers at Closutton. His latest win at Naas where he beat Ile Atlantique may not have been flashy but he is a horse on the up.
He is currently 13-2 for the Albert Bartlett and 9-1 for the Baring Bingham with Unibet, Mullins is still undecided as to which race he will run in but said recently that the Albert Bartlett looks more achievable thanks to his stamina and ability to settle.
Mullins was speaking following his Lawlor's of Naas win: “They are a nice bunch of horses coming along and Daryl was very good on Readin Tommy Wrong. He gave him a very cute ride and let the main protagonists fight it out before taking it off them in the end. He’s a horse that is improving all the time, very brave and it’s good for Irish jump breeding that Authorized is standing here this season. That puts him right in the picture for the top prizes in the spring.
"I felt before the race that it was the top novice hurdle run in Ireland or England over the whole Christmas period, so I’m very happy they have run so well."
