Only five will line up to participate in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race at Killarney tonight, and among them, Deepone trained by Paddy Twomey, is the stand-out contender.

Deepone, by Study Of Man, was victorious on his debut at Leopardstown in May, winning by an impressive margin of two-and-a-half lengths. With no other winners in the field, Deepone will be popular to follow up in this contest.

Speaking on Racing TV on Tuesday evening, Twomey said: "He is a lovely horse and I think he is a mile-and-a-half, mile-and-a-quarter three-year-old and I wasn’t in any hurry with him.

"This looks a perfect race for him to take the next step and get some education and I’m hoping he will put in a good performance.

"He is a nice horse and has trained very well, he has been very straightforward to train. I'm very much looking forward to him running.

"I didn't want to go from a maiden to a group race if I could help it. This race just sits nicely in the calendar and hopefully he is good enough to win it."

Twomey went on to discuss plans for a busy weekend at the Curragh, where he is set to saddle runners on both Saturday and Sunday.

He added: "On Saturday we might run Gunzburg in the Anglesey and Rosscarbery in the Curragh Cup.

“On Sunday Just Beautiful might run in the Minstrel but it would want to dry out, that’s the only thing with her.

"Moon De Vega might run in what used to be the Kilboy (now the Michael John Kennedy Memorial Stakes).

"We have a couple of nice two-year-old's as well. We have an unraced Sioux Nation horse (Letsbefrankaboutit) that came from the breezes-up that might run in the six-furlong median auction race.

"There is also a nice Ten Sovereigns filly (Ten Deep) that was fifth on Derby weekend. She has come forward and might run in the seven-furlong fillies maiden. We have Billy (Lee) back, so we are ready to go."
