Third time lucky for Shanooan

George Kent expressed confidence in advance of the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Fillies Maiden that his Shanooan could make it third time lucky. Such high hopes were reflected in the betting too as the English Channel filly assumed the mantle of joint favouritism at 9/4 from a price this morning of around 5/1. She went out and made all under Fergal Lynch.
Shanooan had the measure of her fellow market leader, the keen going early on, Chiclet from the furlong pole, crossing the line three and a quarter lengths to the good.
Son, assistant and namesake of winning trainer George Kent, George junior said: "She's a progressive filly and she's straight-forward and coming forward for each run.
"I was a little bit disappointed that she didn't win as a two-year-old but she needed a bit of time."
Meanwhile, the Kent's Gladness Stakes hero of 2013, Custom Cut was sold at Tattersalls back in October and is now in training with David O'Meara. (AM & EM)
