Third Time Lucky for Son
Scorched Son made it third time lucky over flights when landing the Tote Ireland Placepot Races 1 To 6 Maiden Hurdle. Conceding weight all round was no barrier for the son of Norwich, as the Tralee bumper winner beat favourite, Honours Graduate by four lengths in the hands of Mark Walsh.
Fran Flood junior said of the winner: "He was very novicey first time in Roscommon, but he is learning all the time and he was good today. He'd win a little novice if he keeps going the same way."
Gamble of the contest, The Shepherd never really looked likely to repay those that supported him from 7/1 into 100/30. Gordon Elliott's charge finished fifth.
