The Hamptons swoops late to conquer
Niall Madden’s The Hamptons showed a fine finishing burst under Fran Berry to get up on the line to deny Statue Of Dreams in a driving finish by a head in the five furlong handicap.
Gambled on Ability N Delivery who was backed down to 9/2 from a morning price of 8/1 was prominent, but faded into fourth place behind top weight San Jose City who was beaten two heads in third. Asamara cut out the pace but was swallowed up at the business end of the race.
Madden said his gelding who returned at 7/1 “will come back to Laytown if he gets in there”.
