Tasitiocht a faller on her hurdle debut last time out, readily justified 5/4 favouritism when taking the Racing Again Wednesday 10th October Mares Maiden Hurdle at Navan today
Ridden by Champion Jockey Patrick Mullins, the dual bumper winner led for much and while she jumped to her right at some of her hurdles, eventually won well from Celtic Cailin
The mind bobbles when one thinks that Tasitiocht's win was the 58th of the season for winning trainer Willie Mullins and the Champion Trainer, whose horses normally only hit top gear in the New Year, later reported “Tasitiocht was very novicey the last day and we popped her three times at home since, including this morning.
“The much slower pace today, on the soft ground was a big help – it wasn't the plan to make the running but she was very keen and Patrick got a breather into her.”
“She was jumping out to the right a bit which was a bit of a worry but at least she jumped much better today – she'll probably go for a mares novice hurdle.”
The winning owners, the CCR (Cistercian College Racing) Racing Syndicate, many of whom were present for the win, is the alma mater of the winning jockey.
