Summer Star an eye-catching fourth on her debut at Punchestown last month in a race that also featured another winner on this card Kauto Grand Mogol ran out a really impressive winner of the Greenmount Mares INH Flat Race for lady riders.
Trained by Ted Walsh for his wife Helen and ridden by their daughter Katie, the 2/1 favouite cruised into the lead under two furlongs out and drew right away in the final furlong to beat Carrigeen Lonicera (6/1) by 14 lengths. Scrapper Jack (10/1) could find no extra in the straight to finish another eight lengths back in third.
Ted Walsh said, “I bought her to go to the breeze-up’s but she wasn’t quick enough to go there so we held onto her. She has a good staying pedigree.
“She finished well at Punchestown and has obviously come on well from that run. She will come back here in a few weeks for a Listed four-year-old bumper.”
