Stand Delivers Again at Fairyhouse
Despite the uninspiring form figures p0-0, The Last Stand was undeniably nicely treated off a mark of 51 for the 20% Online Ticket Discount Handicap and Tony Mullins' seven time winner found supporters at bits of 12s and 10s into 8/1, duly obliging under Danny Mullins, beating Daytime Dreamer by one and a quarter lengths.
Of course Danny has previously ridden Rock And Roll Kid a winner twice for his father and he always looked confident on The Last Stand, taking the initiative a furlong and a half down.
Mullins said: "The winning owners, the Paleface Sioux Syndicate are from Athlone. This horse likes an easy finish on fast ground. He'll come back here next Wednesday (to bid for a fourth course win)."
The Gowran handler is striking a bit of form now, this win coming just a few days after Two Left Boot's Tramore success.
