Solar Drive was a notable second in the Listed Scottish Triumph Hurdle at Musselburgh last month and Paul Flynn expects him to improve for the run when he contests the Fred Winter at Cheltenham tomorrow.

The grey son of Mastercraftsman was only collared on the run-in at Musselburgh on his first run since October. He tasted success in that sphere at Ballinrobe in September.

The trainer said: "I think the stiffer track will help him and he has has probably come on a lot for that - we weren't training him for Musselburgh really.

"I think it has brought him on.

"I think he is going to be a real stayer as well."

The winner in Musselburgh, St Pancras, franked the form when runner-up in a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle at Kempton.
