Smullen edges four ahead in title race

Pat Smullen heads off to the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita this weekend happy in the knowledge that he is four clear of rivals Johnny Murtagh and Fran Berry in the Flat jockeys championship.

The reigning champion is now on the 81 winner mark after taking the concluding ten furlongs fillies race on the Dermot Weld-trained Lunduv The 11/10 favourite led inside the final quarter mile and kept on strongly to beat Stairway To Glory by five lengths.
