Slippers Slams Naas rivals
The opening Thoroughbred County Maiden Hurdle at Naas today went to the Tom Mullins trained Some Slam (4/1 - 5/2) which made all under Niall Madden.
The son of Orpen, a debut bumper winner at Listowel last September before disappointing on his three starts, had the measure of 6/4f Sweet My Lord when the 'jolly' fell at the final flight, leaving Some Slam to win by five lengths.
Afterwards Mullins reported “Some Slam has had his stupid little problems and hiccups since he won at Listowel and we said we'd let him have his head out in front today and let him go about his business himself. He'll run in a winners' of one next.”
