Itsalonglongroad gained a sixth career win at Tramore today and a first since winning a Dundalk Claimer in November, when landing the VS Direct No Limits Rated Novice Chase for trainer John McConnell and jockey Simon Torrens.
The seven year old son of Lawman went unclaimed for E10,000 in two Dundalk Claimers in November, gaining his fifth career win on November 9 and today raced prominently when beating runner-up Hell On Earth by a length and three parts.
Afterwards jockey Torrens stated “he is very hard on himself - he has to either make it or drop out last. Jumping out and being left alone seems to suit him.
“I rode him here the last day and I won on him on the flat. On the flat they go a nicer gallop and it's easier for him to settle. I made it on him here the last day over fences and another horse took me on and he ran with the choke out the whole way.
“Lucky enough today he settled away alright and it worked out well."
