The Colm Murphy trained Shariyan under Robbie Power, followed up a course win at Christmas when defying a 10lbs hike to win the Tote Price Promise Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown today.
Power was patient on the son of Kahyasi who moved into contention rounding the home turn. The winner made a mistake at the final flight but found plenty reserves on the run-in to lead close home for a snug win over Sammy Black
Afterwards Murphy stated “I'm thrilled to bits! We were hoping for a bit of luck in running and we were lucky at the last (hurdle) but credit to him for getting his momentum back. I'd imagine we'll go for another handicap and hoping he'll keep improving.”
