Sexton off the mark on Exhibition
Kevin Sexton partnered his first winner when taking the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap under 14/1 chance Solaras Exhibition
The 16-year-old from Nurney, Co. Kildare, who is apprenticed to Jessica Harrington, was seen to good effect on the Seamus Fahey-trained mare leading over a furlong out to beat Snuggle Up (20/1) by a length and three quarters. Gort Na Mona (14/1) was a further three lengths adrift in third, with Elizabeth Coffee (16/1) another short-head away in fourth.
Fahey said, “Kevin originally learned to ride with me, and his uncle Aidan stood the sire of this gelding Great Exhibition so its a great win all round. He's in the sales at Newmarket, and may run in the three-year-old hurdle at Clonmel next Sunday.”
