Sea surges home for Levey
Sean Levey produced By The Sea with a strong surge on the outer to claim the Castlecomer Apprentice Handicap at Gowran Park.
The Myles Sunderland-trained filly hit the front over a furlong out and stayed on well in the closing stages to score by a length-and-three-quarters from fellow 4/1 joint-favourite Philosophers Guest
"I'm delighted for the owners who have been with me from when I started training seven years ago," said Sunderland.
"One of the syndicate died last year, John Carroll, and he was a very good friend to all of us. They have been very big supporters through thick and thin.
"I'm delighted with that. We'll try and pick another handicap for her. She's no world beater but was a bit unlucky at Fairyhouse last time.
"This trip is as short as she wants it and we could step her up again."
