Schmidt lands opener for Myerscough and Beggy
Padraig Beggy booted home his 17th winner of the season when Rudolph Schmidt took the opening juvenile auction maiden at Navan this afternoon.
The David Myerscough-trained daughter of Catcher In The Rye led a furlong out and kept on well to beat Orlando Dawn by a length and a quarter, with the well-backed evens favourite Spring Horizon was a further length back in third.
'I was just a bit worried about the form of her run at the Curragh last time as a few have been beaten out of that race since. She wants an ease in the ground, and is unlikely to have another run this season,' said Myerscough, recording his 11th success of the year.
