Scene scores for Sunderland
Scene Of The Crash sprung a 18/1 surprise in the opening race of the day at Limerick, the Bet On-Course with Tote Maiden Hurdle.
The Myles Sunderland trained son of Galileo was having his third start today with his two previous efforts both coming at Limerick as well.
On his debut he ran a cracker to finish just three and a half lengths fourth to Castle Wings in a bumper, but disappointed on his second start when pulling up when sent off the 3/1fav in a maiden hurdle.
Bred by Annemarie O'Brien and her father Joseph Crowley, the winner was always close up and disputed the lead approaching the straight with Final Flashback He took up the running two flights from home and reached for the last but stayed on well under John Cullen to score comfortably.
No excuses could be given for the 13/8 favourite God's County who filled the runner-up spot for the third time in succession five lengths back, while Final Flashback was a further four and a half lengths back in third.
Winning trainer Myles Sunderland who trains in Castlebridge, Co Wexford said afterwards: "If I had a few more Galileo's I would be a right trainer!
"I think there was something a miss the last day as he can be a bit fragile. He might go for a 1m 6f amateur riders race at Leopardstown now, before he goes Novice Hurdling." Anoosou who opened at 5/1 this morning found plenty of supporters and was sent off the 10/3 second favourite finished a disappointing eighth.
