Rothwell firing on all Cylinders
The Curracloe Handicap Hurdle caused somewhat of a surprise when Cylinder Rattler with form which left a lot to be desired (0pp) came home in front.
Paul Townend who guided the 16/1 shot to victory raced his mount in rear and made his progress to join leaders at the second last.
The pair were in front after the last and kept on well to hold off Tryptronic and Andrew McNamara by a head.
Winning trainer Rothwell said afterwards: “He ran on soft ground in Bellewstown last year and he lost his action quite badly, he didn’t handle the ground at all.”
“We gave him the Winter off and he’s come back in super form and I thought we had a good chance here this evening.”
