Grade 1 placed Rathlin bounced back to form over fences to win the www.themalton.com Chase at Killarney today for trainer Mouse Morris, jockey Mark Enright and owners Gigginstown House Stud.
The son of Kayf Tara (11/2) made much of the running and eventually maintained his strong gallop to defeat Supreme Doc by nine lengths. Four to six favourite Dedigout in the same ownership as the winner, never landed a blow and came home a well beaten fourth.
Following the win, Morris stated “he has been disappointing over fences but that will have done his confidence a lot of good.
Regarding the 2012 Power Gold Cup runner-up he added “he may still be well handicapped and if the ground stays like this, I think he may stay in training – we'll have to have a meeting (with his owners) though!”
