Former point-to-point winner Rath Gaul Boy shot clear of his rivals on racecourse debut in Leopardstown's bumper.

He gave champion trainer Willie Mullins a four-timer at the Dublin venue's final National Hunt meeting of the season as he also saddled Brooklynn Glory (8/15f), Glengouly (5/2) and Mt Leinster (2/11f).

The five-year-old gelding closed up on the leaders a furlong and a half down and was pushed along by Patrick Mullins to take the race by the scruff of the neck.

He readily moved clear inside the final furlong and was far from extended in coming home by six lengths to reward favourite backers who took the 8/13. Golden Wonder's kept on for second at 11/1 and was two and a half lengths clear of Champagne Town (15/2).

Mullins said: "A nice performance. By Well Chosen out of a Presenting mare, I didn't think he would have that much speed but every time I work him at home he pops his head up on the gallops.

"Buying him out of a point-to-point I didn't think we would be coming to Leopardstown with him but he just keeps improving. He has more speed than he is bred for. I'm very happy with him.

"I might try a winners' bumper but I imagine he'll go jumping next season. He's a fantastic jumper so he will start off novice hurdling and probably novice chasing the following year."

Rath Gaul Boy won a Kinsale point-to-point in October last year for Michael Goff.
