The Michael Grassick trained Texas Radio (11/2) gained his maiden win at Gowran today, landing the Mobile Betting At 188BET Handicap under jockey Wayne Lordan.
The son of Kyllachy made virtually all the running and in the end scored a three and a half lengths win over Three Majors
Afterwards Grassick, saddling his fifth winner in his third full season as a trainer having taken over from his father Michael Grassick senior, stated “he's always showed us plenty at home but has been a slow learner.
"I thought he was going to win in Dundalk the last day and I'm not sure if he didn't stay or he found the surface a bit quick. We couldn't find anything wrong with the horse afterwards.
"There are not many opportunities for low grade three-year-olds in the programme, and he may run in Sligo next Sunday as there not too many suitable races for a while after that. I'm delighted for (owner) Tadhg Geary, who has been a great supporter of mine from the start."
