The John Oxx trained Qatea ran out the ready winner of the Guinness Handicap at Sligo today, scoring an easy four and three parts of a length win under Declan McDonogh.
McDonogh moved the son of Duke Of Marmalade to lead on the inner rounding the home turn and from there coasted to an easy win over Acid
Jimmy O'Neill, assistant to John Oxx, later stated "he was gelded over the winter and is versatile ground wise. He's in again at Clonmel on Thursday and, providing everything is alright, he'll probably run again."
Declan McDonogh added "he's done it well. He handled the ground well, and I didn't really have a minute's worry. His work has been nice at home."
