Alex Harvey has joined his brother Ben in the professional ranks and today he landed the Energise (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race at Down Royal aboard Stuart Crawford's newcomer Marlacoo (14/1).
Ben Harvey recently picked up the season-long Adare Manor Opportunity Series prize from sponsor J P McManus, and Alex rode a nice type in Marlacoo here, as the Wings Of Eagles youngster beat well-touted favourite Polepatrick by six lengths.
After saddling several placed horses earlier on the card, Crawford saw his other runner in this bumper, Inoue (11/2) manage no better than tenth.
"We fancied the three of ours to be honest. They are three nice horses and we didn't really want to run them all against each other - we took the Kilwaughter horse out," explained Crawford.
"This horse did a very good bit of work last week with Yeshil (runner-up in the Goffs Defender Bumper at Punchestown).
"They probably really quickened it up from a long way out but saying that, the second horse has been up there the whole way.
"We have a couple of those Wings of Eagles and we liked them, so it is good that he went out and got the job done.
"He handled it (good ground) anyway."
