Prince of Fire finally gets it right
Prince of Fire for trainer Charlie Swan and jockey David Casey took the fifth race on todays card at Limerick the Ryan Sheridan Concert 11th June Beginners Chase.
The son of Waky Nao, won on his only point-to-point start back in ‘09 at Ballydurn for Timmy Hyde. On his third start on the track he won his maiden hurdle at Leopardstown in the same year for his present yard. Lough Ferrib (13/2) ran a good race to finish second three and a half lengths behind, with a further seven lengths back to Regal D’Estruval in third.
The winning trainer said afterwards, “At last he won! He has been a disappointing old devil. He can be a bit keen at times, but David gave him a great ride.
“I’ll talk to connections now and see whether we will keep him on the go or give him a break.”
The well supported 5/4fav Your Busy in the colours of rugby superstar Ronan O’Gara could only manage to finish sixth with Ruby Walsh aboard.
