Prince finished for the season

Mon 2nd May 2011, 09:22

Noble Prince will not run at the Punchestown Festival this week, with connections deciding the gelding has done enough for the season and letting him off for the summer.

The Paul Nolan-trained gelding enjoyed his finest hour when landing the Jewson Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, and looked set for his first Grade 1 triumph when falling two out in the Power Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday.

The Montjeu seven-year-old is none the worse for that tumble and Nolan said: “We didn't want to be greedy after winning at Cheltenham and he ran his race at Fairyhouse. We decided it was best to miss Punchestown in the long-term interest of the horse.”
