Crystal Pearl had a welcome change of luck when taking the Download The Award Winning At The Races App Mares Handicap Hurdle at Limerick.
The Charles Byrnes-trained mare had fallen on her latest two outings but justified support here on track from 9/2 into 7/2 to record her second victory at the venue.
The five-year-old mare was patiently ridden by Davy Russell, leading before the last and keeping on well on the run-in to beat Hello Sweetie by five and a half lengths.
Byrnes said, “It looked a great opportunity for her. She was entered at Fairyhouse yesterday but when I saw the entries for this race it looked a weak race.
“I thought she would have won at Galway, and the ground was a bit too soft the last day at Navan.
“The owner, Philip McGee, came here instead of seeing his nephew playing in the Cavan county final today.”
