Jockey Paul Townend will need to undergo a scan on Tuesday, following a first fence fall from Agusta Gold at Galway.

Last seasons champion national hunt jockey injured his thumb in the spill, leaving both himself and boss Willie Mullins facing an anxious wait over the bank holiday weekend.

Speaking in the aftermath of winning the final race of Galway 2022, Mullins said; "It looks like he might have dislocated his thumb. He’s going to get it xrayed and scanned on Tuesday morning.

“We are just holding our breath that he’ll recover quickly and it might be just badly bruised.”
