Save for the win of 3/1 favourite Acroleina in the third, the layers have been getting the better of the exchanges at Laytown, and it race four, the Gilna's Cottage Inn Maiden, the honours went the way of 10/1 chance Papabili
The strong favourite here was War Anthem (11/10), but Georgios Pakidis' first runner on the beach, Papabili, made most before coming home two and a half lengths to the good from Tubeanie
The aforementioned War Anthem was a further two lengths back in third, as Sean Corby guided Papabili to what was the young rider's first winner at Laytown.
"We've had a hard time with him, but knew he had ability and good pace for that kind of race," said Pakidis.
"He's had little problems with injuries and a virus but now he's in good shape and I expect lots more.
"He could go for something else over seven furlongs and he likes soft ground."
