Oxx's hot-pot can't handle Marnane's 'rag'
Thirty three to one shot Alnashmy overturned 2/9 chance Zabarajad in the jogforjockeys.ie Maiden at Tipperary.
Johnny Murtagh on Zabarajad appeared to have things nicely under control early in the straight but from over a furlong out it was apparent that the challenge of Alnashmy wasn't going to be easily shaken off. Alnashmy and Colm O'Donoghue came home strongly to get up close home and prevail by three parts of a length.
David Marnane trains Alnashmy for Saeed Nasser Al Romaithi from Abu Dhabi and the Bansha handler joked: "That's my handicap mark gone!
He went on: "He's a nice horse and we always liked him. The owner has plenty of horses in training in France but thankfully he gave me this one.
"He's a lovely horse but he's just been slow getting there. We fancied him as much as you could against a 105-rated horse tonight.
"He'll get further and it's just nice to end a long run of seconds and thirds. Hopefully we've turned the corner now."
