Oscar proves tough in Wexford opener
The Charlie Swan-trained Hot Oscar produced a game front-running performance to open her account over timber in the Mount Leinster Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.
David Casey 's mount was challenged at the second last by Lady Tess but found plenty to hold off her persistent challenge by a neck.
Breeder Michael Turley was on hand to greet the winner and he heads the Sopwell Syndicate which includes four other Galway based owners.
"She wanted a bit of pace as she has the stamina," said Turley.
"She's a nice mare and I have the mother, who won a few for Charlie. The full-brother will run in bumpers shortly.
"We'll keep her going and probably try to go to Galway with her for a hurdle race."
