Only Mine was usurped by Epsom Derby winner Wings Of Eagles as the leading performer from their sire Pour Moi in recent months but Joe Murphy’s capable filly today landed the featured Listed Yeomanstown Stud Dark Angel EBF Stakes at Naas, when scoring a fifth career win.
Ridden by Gary Carroll, himself very capable, Only Mine overcame a wide draw under a canny ride to end up racing along the running-rail and hold on for a length win over Music Box
On Racing Post Ratings and on prizemoney won, Only Mine, a Group 3 winner over course and distance in May 2016, was the leading performer by Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi prior to Wings Of Eagles’ own Epsom heroics in June and today added a second Listed win to her haul.
Afterwards trainer Murphy said “she was always travelling well and I think she is improving all the time. She will probably go for the Group 3 (Phoenix Sprint Stakes) at the Curragh on August 13, and then we will think about the Group 1 (Haydock Sprint Cup) which she was seventh in last year.
"Anything bar extremes in the ground is fine for her and she is very genuine and very consistent. I love her to bits and she never runs a bad race, and is building up a fine pedigree page."
Only Mine, bred by Dermot Weld’s late mother Maguerite Weld, was later cut to 33/1 from 50s, for the Haydock Sprint Cup by bookmaker Paddy Power.
