Ola Bonita gained a deserved maiden win at Dundalk today as Andy Slattery's filly landed the concluding Crowne Plaza Hotel Leading Jockey Maiden under the trainer's son Andrew Slattery.
The daughter of Zebedee had been in the prizemoney on four of her previous five starts and having been beaten a short-head at today's venue 12 days ago, today scored under a well-timed challenge when beating Stalingrad by a length and three parts.
Brian Slattery, brother and assistant to Andy Slattery, later said “it was a competitive race with a lot of them rated similarly. She won well and hopefully will progress again.
“Six furlongs is probably her trip. She saw that out well today so she might even stay seven. Andrew said he couldn’t pull her up after the line so we’re very happy with her.”
