Eugene O'Sullivan recorded his second winner of the Limerick Christmas Festival as The Mad Well bounced back to form to land the BRC McMahon Reinforcements Handicap Hurdle.
The five-year-old son of Milan finished a good second to Burning Issues at Cork on his penultimate start before disappointing last time out behind Jumptoconclusions again at Cork.
Fitted with cheekpieces for the first time today he was sent off at 8/1 under Danny Mullins (recording his third winner over the Christmas period).
Prominent throughout he went a few lengths clear entering the straight and while he was pressed at the second last by Jumptoconclusions he pulled out more when ridden, going on to score by four and a half lengths.
Jumptoconclusions, who was sent off the 9/4 favourite (from 11/4 on-course), had to settle for second under Mark Walsh for Edward O'Grady while Shesaportrait was three parts of a length back in third under Phillip Enright for Pat Neville at 6/1.
The winner is owned by Pauline Twiss from Killorglin, Co Kerry.
