Brian O'Connell was stood down with a knee injury at Galway on Monday following a heavy fall from Millstream Ned in the WB Gavin & Co EBF Beginners Chase.
Travelling well into contention before the third-last fence, Patrick Neville's charge got it all wrong and both horse and jockey were grounded.
O'Connell said: "I have sprained my knee and won't know if it is anything worse until I go for scans on Tuesday.
"I'm hoping it isn't ligament damage but I will go for further checks and keep my fingers crossed."
