Jockey Brian O'Connell combined with Gigginstown House Stud for a double at Punchestown today, winning the Punchestown Handicap Hurdle on the Philip Fenton trained Desertmore Stream
Following the win, Fenton stated “he put a poor run at Killarney behind him - he was a bit free and was handier than he would have liked and didn't perform. He settled much better today.
“Galway is on the agenda whether that's the Galway Hurdle or the winners' of two, as he's still only six. Things went pear-shaped with him earlier in the season but we're beginning to learn how to ride him.
“Today he was more manly and I was glad to see him stretching out and winning the battle.”
O'Connell and the Michael O'Leary owned Stud were earlier on the mark with Cape Glory in an earlier maiden hurdle.
