Cork raider Nusra (14/1) notched a second success at Dundalk today, landing the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap for trainer Garrett Ahern, jockey Shane Foley and owner Marie Gubbins.
Midleton-based Ahern sent the seven-year-old mare to win her first race at Ffos Las in an apprentice handicap last August and today added to a November course win, when scoring by 1.25 lengths from Goonyaboyya
Ahern said “she was doing all the work at the end the last day so we were always going to step up. She was also entered in a 1m4f race tonight but we went for what we thought was the weaker of the two races.
"He (Shane Foley) said he was lucky (when caught on heels entering the straight) and said she never dropped the bit until she turned in.
"We will stay to the all-weather unless we get real nice ground as she wants proper top of the ground.”
