Nothing False about Hourigan's Economy
The competitive Abbey Healthcare Handicap went to the Michael Hourigan trained False Economy at the odds of 9/1 (from 12s) at Leopardstown.
Ridden by Seamie Heffernan, the son of Orpen was pushed along on the approach to the straight but he made good headway along the rail from under two furlongs out, he got to the front inside the final furlong and he stayed on well to beat the hat-trick seeking Keep It Cool by three parts of a length.
The well backed favourite Greenbelt Star (5/2 into 7/4) was eased down when beaten inside the final furlong.
This was the versatile 6yo’s fourth career win having won twice over hurdles with a victory on the level coming between them at Listowel back in June of last year.
