Negotiate leaves it late
Negotiate got on top late on to spring a 20/1 shock in the concluding maiden at Gowran Park tonight.
Andrew Oliver 's charge was a persistent challenger to Cape Of Good Grace down the straight.
Fran Berry conjured just enough from his mount to edge the verdict in the last few strides, getting up for a head success. Hotpot Azores (4/7f) could only finish third.
The winner had competed at a high level last year, including running in the Moyglare Stakes.
"We thought a bit of her last year as you could see from the entries and threw her in at the deep end," said Oliver.
"She was always going to be a three-year-old and has strengthened up over the winter.
"She likes that lovely good ground. We'll step her up in class now."
