Trainer Willie McCreery and jockey Bill Lee combined for doubles at Naas today as Mother Country landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden for Godolphin.
A daughter of Poetic Flare's sire Dawn Approach, Mother Country today scored a head win over I Siyou Baby and afterwards McCreery said “I'm delighted with that and to get a winner for Godolphin is great and she's one of their homebred fillies.
“She's a grand big filly, she's only coming to herself and in fairness they've been very patient with me.
“I thought she ran a lovely race in Navan the last day when she probably didn't get home. Myself and Billy had a chat and we said we'd bring her back to the mile here and that suited.
“We'll take our time with her and she wouldn't mind an ease in the ground either. I wouldn't mind bringing her back to seven as she travelled very well there and I thought she idled in front.”
McCreery's Wood Ranger was an earlier handicap winner for Lee.
