Murtagh at his best
Johnny Murtagh was at his best aboard the Aidan O’Brien trained Viceroy Of India when the pair kept on well to hold off the 4/7 favourite Sublime Talent of Dermot Weld’s by a head to land the Galway Publican’s EBF Maiden.
Winning jockey Murtagh said afterwards, “Aidan told me to let him off in front and gallop and that he’d stay up the hill and he was 100% correct.”
Johnny Murtagh got a severe caution for his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.
Winning trainer Aidan O’Brien was absent.
