Trainer Colm Murphy bagged a second Graded win over consecutive weeks today at Naas as his Brian Hayes-partnered Aldo The Apache landed the Grade B BetVictor Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle.
The Room For One More Syndicate-owned five year old was previously successful at Down Royal in June and Punchestown last month and today went clear on the run-in for an eight and a half lengths win over Jiving Jerry
Murphy, successful with Grade 3 winner Impervious at Down Royal last Friday, wasn't present and afterwards Hayes commented “Colm’s horses are flying and this is a tough horse. He won nicely in Punchestown the last day and Colm said he’d have a go at a good race with a light weight.
“We went a really good gallop which suited and all he does is stay. Colm said as long as you’re going a strong gallop he will pick up and finish his race.
“He will get further in time.”
Jockey Hayes steered Impervious to her Down Royal success and two days later, won another Grade 3 chase with Cape Gentleman at Cork.
